Ripple Integrates Stripe-Owned Privy Wallets Into XRP Ledger
Ripple has integrated Stripe-owned Privy's wallet tech into the XRP Ledger as agent payments pass 14.3 million transactions, though transferred value totals roughly 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD.

Ripple has integrated wallet infrastructure from Stripe-owned Privy into the XRP Ledger, letting developers embed accounts directly into financial applications and AI agents without requiring users to manage their own keys. The partnership, announced in a release shared with CoinDesk on Tuesday, supports transfers of XRP, the dollar-pegged RLUSD stablecoin and other assets issued on the network.
Privy handles the wallet infrastructure, reducing what app builders must develop themselves. The system supports key exports and recovery phrases, so wallets can be moved to other platforms. Each new XRP Ledger account still requires the network's minimum reserve of 1 XRP before it can transact, even if the account will only move stablecoins.
How large is AI payment activity on the ledger?
The integration arrives as agent-driven transactions grow on the network. RippleX Head of Engineering J. Ayo Akinyele said on X last week that the XRP Ledger had processed more than 13 million agent payments through x402, a payment standard for purchasing access to data and services, representing roughly 25% of ledger activity.
Figures from the XRPL AI Hub, operated by payment infrastructure developer t54, showed more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions across 169 registered merchants as of Wednesday.
The value transferred, however, runs far below what the transaction count suggests. The dashboard recorded approximately 6,991 XRP and 12,752 RLUSD in cumulative payments. Most transactions involve very small amounts, consistent with software paying for individual requests rather than large financial transfers.
CoinDesk asked the XRP Ledger Foundation for data showing how much payment activity on the network comes from AI agents. The question of how much real economic activity the transactions represent remains open.
What does the workflow look like in practice?
Under the x402 standard, an agent requesting paid data receives a payment request, authorizes payment and obtains the data once the payment verifies. Software pays per request without a person opening a checkout page. Privy's documentation says wallets operated from company servers can hold and spend funds on behalf of software.
Ripple began offering developer tools for these payments in June, letting agents create wallets, check balances and pay for services using XRP or RLUSD. In September, it expanded the kit to support the payment standard developed by Stripe and payments blockchain Tempo, including a method to fund repeated requests with XRP instead of settling each one separately.
What comes next?
Tuesday's release said Ripple and Privy will deepen the integration over time, including policy controls and tools for covering users' network fees. The activation reserve remains an operational constraint: someone must supply the 1 XRP minimum reserve to activate each embedded account, a cost apps will likely need to absorb or pass on as embedded wallets scale toward mainstream payments customers.
