Bitcoin ETFs Bleed $261M in a Day as XRP Funds Stand Alone

US spot Bitcoin ETFs lost about $262 million on Wednesday, SoSoValue data shows, lifting weekly outflows to $151 million as XRP funds stayed the lone positive category.

Outputs

  1. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded ~$262 million in outflows on Wednesday, per SoSoValue.

  2. Weekly Bitcoin ETF net outflows reached $151 million through Wednesday, after $681 million the prior week.

  3. Ether ETFs shed $190 million this week after $542 million in outflows last week.

  4. Solana ETFs extended an outflow streak to eight trading sessions.

  5. XRP ETFs were the only tracked category with positive weekly net flows, adding ~$740,000 on Wednesday.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs shed roughly $262 million on Wednesday, according to SoSoValue data, turning a $176 million inflow on Tuesday into a fresh week of net redemptions. The single-day reversal brought the week's net outflows to $151 million through Wednesday, on top of $681 million in withdrawals the previous week.

The red ink arrived as Bitcoin broke below $82,000 following Wednesday's US inflation report. BTC traded near $80,741 at publication time, down 3.2% over 24 hours, per CoinGecko. The funds have now swung back and forth all week: money in on Tuesday, money out on Wednesday.

What does this change for the ETF market?

For now, it confirms that the two-way flow regime is here to stay. These funds no longer move in one direction, and weekly reversals of this size are becoming routine rather than exceptional. Last week's $681 million exodus was followed by inflows, then by Wednesday's exit. That churn matters for issuers watching fee revenue and for traders who use ETF flows as a sentiment gauge.

The pain wasn't confined to Bitcoin. Ether ETFs lost around $130 million on Wednesday, pushing their weekly outflows to $190 million. That follows $542 million in net outflows last week and $138 million the week before — a three-week stretch of persistent selling in the ETH products.

The smaller funds told the same story, with one exception:

  • Solana ETFs bled $1.3 million Wednesday, extending an outflow streak to eight straight trading sessions, with $3 million withdrawn this week.
  • Zcash ETFs pulled in $3.7 million Wednesday but stayed negative for the week at $3.2 million in net outflows.
  • XRP ETFs attracted about $740,000 Wednesday — the only one of the five tracked categories posting positive net flows this week.

The XRP number is small change next to Bitcoin's headline figures. But it's the lone green line on the board, and that distinction has held through a week when every other category lost money. Whether it signals durable investor interest in XRP products or a single-session quirk will only become clear once the weekly books close.

Where the flows go from here

The immediate variable is macro. Wednesday's inflation print knocked Bitcoin below $82,000, and ETF flows tracked the move almost tick for tick. If BTC stabilizes near $80,741 or recovers, the redemption pressure could ease as quickly as it built. If not, this week's $151 million outflow has room to grow — last week showed $681 million is achievable when sellers commit.

Ether funds face the steeper test. Three consecutive weeks of net outflows — $138 million, then $542 million, then $190 million and counting — point to a more structural unwind than a reaction to one CPI print. Solana's eight-session streak sits somewhere in between.

Watch Friday's weekly close. If XRP ETFs hold their positive territory through it, they'll carry the only clean record among the five tracked categories into next week — and the only story line in this dataset that isn't about money leaving the building.
